My CMMI Associate Cert is going to expire? Should I wait for V3.0 or should I renew now?
You should renew now because your Associate Certification will continue to be valid through the launch of CMMI V3.0. If you wish to be trained in or participate in an appraisal on the new domains, you have an opportunity to take the new Building Organizational Capability class or self-study and complete the new Practitioner Certification. Self-study purchase option expires on March 31, 2024. After that, candidate must take Building Organizational Capability class and pass Practitioner exam. Candidates also have the option to keep the Associate and just renew on expiration.

How do Appraisal Team Members retain the Suppliers domain?
To retain the Supplier domain before March 31, Appraisal Team Members can pass the Practitioner Exam. < /br> To obtain the Supplier domain after March 31, Appraisal Team Members will have to complete the Building Organization Capability course and pass the Practitioner Exam.

What are the steps for a first time LA/IT? Is Building Organizational Capability required or can they do Foundations of Capability + Building Development/Services Excellence?
Qualified candidates that have served as an ATM on at least two appraisals should complete the following steps to become a Lead Appraiser or Instructor:
1) Take the BOC course.
2) Pass the Practitioner Exam.
3) Take the High Maturity Concepts Course.
4) Take the Applying CMMI Course.
5) Take the Professional Exam.
6) Submit an application for LA or Instructor
7) Take Lead Appraiser Training or Instructor Training
8) Complete an observation -
I just got my Associate Cert, when V3.0 comes out, is there an expedited/discounted path to V3.0?
If you already have your Associate Certification, you don’t have any required actions to get ready for CMMI V3.0. If you’d like, you can also take training or self-study for the new CMMI V3.0 content once it is available but it won’t impact your newly earned Associate certification. If you wish to be trained in or participate in an appraisal on the new domains, you have an opportunity to take the new Building Organizational Capability class or self-study and complete the new Practitioner Certification. Self-study purchase option expires on March 31, 2024. After that, candidate must take Building Organizational Capability class and pass Practitioner exam. Candidates also have the option to keep the Associate and just renew on expiration.

I want to be an ATM for an upcoming appraisal, if I take the training now, am I going to have to pay to upgrade to V3.0?
No upgrade training or exam is necessary to continue being an ATM for DEV or SVC. If you want to be an ATM for the other practice areas, you will need to take the Building Organizational Capability course and complete the Practitioner Exam. If you are already a CMMI Associate, you have until March 31, 2024 where you may self-study and take the Practitioner Exam to upgrade your certification to CMMI Practitioner without requiring the BOC course.

If I purchase an annual license to the Model Viewer, what version of the model will I get?
The model viewer currently uses the CMMI V3.0 model. However, CMMI V2.2 and CMMI V3.0 are available as PDF downloads included with the annual license. The V2.2 PDF will be removed when we go live with V3.0 MDD, Toolkits and system sync in Q2 2024.

Our organization would like to be appraised. Should we proceed or wait for V3.0?
If you are pursuing Development or Services, you should proceed with your appraisal. If you intend to be appraised on the new CMMI V3.0 domains, you should wait until those appraisals will be accepted in Q2 2024.

We need training – should we wait for V3.0?
If you are adopting CMMI for Development or Services only, you can continue with the currently available courses. If you wish to take training on the new content, the Building Organizational Capability course which covers all V3.0 domains is available now.

We are still trying to finalize the dates but we’re targeting Q2 2024.

Is the Practitioner exam similar in length and time to complete as the Associate Exam?
Both exams are unproctored and open book.
- Practitioner is 4 hours, 120 questions – covers the full model
- Associate is 2.5 hours, 60 questions – covers core practice areas
Minimum pass scores are not shared: only pass-fail information will be shared with the candidate, not their total score.

Does the Practitioner Certification expire? What are the renewal requirements?
Yes, the certification expires after 3 years. To renew, you must retake the CMMI Practitioner Exam.
